Have you considered Invisalign?

Many people are put off from straightening their teeth due to a lack of treatment options. Here at UK Dental Specialists we provide discreet, removable appliances that can straighten your teeth in six to eighteen months’ time, depending on the severity of your individual situation. Unlike other treatments, Invisalign St Albans offers a treatment that works with your lifestyle instead of against it. Completely clear as well as removable, this treatment is barely noticeable to others and you no longer need to worry about food getting stuck in your braces. If you have any questions regarding treatment or would like to book a consultation appointment, then contact our practice and speak to one of our friendly dental team today.

Do you know what to expect from your treatment?

Once you have made the decision to have Invisalign St Albans and booked an initial appointment with us it is important that you know what to expect from your treatment. At your consultation you will be able to see the final results of your treatment after you have had a 3D image taken of your mouth. Computer technology takes this image and accurately predicts how your teeth will move throughout your treatment to reach their final straight positions, meaning there is no longer a need for you to have to suffer through having messy, uncomfortable impressions of your teeth taken.

After this appointment it will take a few weeks for your aligners to be created from these images as they are custom made to fit comfortably over your own teeth. When they arrive we will inform you and book another appointment for you to collect them and check that they fit comfortably. You will be required to wear your aligners for a minimum of twenty-two hours a day, meaning you can take them out for eating and brushing your teeth, as well as things such as smiling for photographs or delivering important speeches at work. You will have several sets of aligners, the total amount varying depending on your individual circumstances, but your practitioner will issue you a few at a time. You will need to wear these in the correct order and for around two weeks each, attending regular check-ups with your dental professional to collect your next sets and check that your treatment is working efficiently. Not wearing your aligners correctly could extend your treatment time or potentially even result in you needing to start your treatment all over again which could result in additional costs as well.

Ensure you follow your aftercare plan for long-lasting results

Once you have had Invisalign St Albans it does not necessarily mean that your treatment is over. You will be issued with a retainer to make sure that your teeth do not return to their old positions and your dental practitioner will provide you with instructions on how to wear it correctly. Most people will need to wear their retainer continuously for seven days after they stop wearing their last set of aligners, but after this most people will only need to wear their retainer whilst they sleep at night. In some cases nighttime wear will continue for years, but other people may only need to wear their retainer at night for a matter of months.
